Beer A wide selection of Beers

Guinness

Guinness is a popular Irish dry stout that originated in the brewery of Arthur Guinness (1725–1803) at St. James’s Gate, Dublin. Guinness is directly descended from the porter style that originated in London in the early 18th century and is one of the most successful beer brands worldwide.
A distinctive feature is the burnt flavour which is derived from the use of roasted unmalted barley (though this is a relatively modern development since it did not become a part of the grist until well into the 20th century). For many years a portion of aged brew was blended with freshly brewed product to give a sharp lactic flavour (which was a characteristic of the original Porter).
Although the palate of Guinness still features a characteristic “tang”, the company has refused to confirm whether this type of blending still occurs.

Newcastle Brown Ale

Newcastle Brown Ale was originally created by Colonel J. Porter in 1925. The recipe, however, was adapted over a period of three years to create the flavour that is distinct to the beer today. When first exhibited, Newcastle Brown Ale swept the board at the prestigious 1928 International Brewery Awards. The gold medals from these awards are still featured on the label.
Newcastle Brown Ale went into production at Tyne Brewery in 1927, with Newcastle Breweries having occupied the site since 1890, with brewing on the site dating back to 1868. The production launch of Newcastle Brown was said to have been an overnight success, with claims that the day after it went on sale, the Police requested the strength be reduced, because the cells were already full.

Sol

In 1899 a German brewmaster was developing a new beer in an old brewery named ‘El Salto del Agua’ (The Water Spring) near Mexico City, when a ray of bright sunlight shone through his brew. This event fired his imagination, leading him to name his new beer ‘El Sol’ and the very first ‘Mexican sunshine beer’ was born. In 1912 Cerveceria Moctezuma acquired ‘El Salto del Agua’ and in 1924 the brand name changed from ‘El Sol’ to simple ‘Sol’.

Today the original sunshine and ray designs remain virtually untouched and the proud brewing tradition behind this great brand continues.
